Hemp is a self-sustaining weed that can grow in many climates, but a mild humid climate (such as that of Nepal’s hill regions) is ideal. Hemp is indigenous to Nepal and has been used by Nepali people for all its purposes historically. It can grow on steep land where irrigation is not possible and as its indigenous it grows very quickly, without any pesticides or insecticides relying only on rainfall.

This fabric is made entirely by a cooperative of Nepali women, who gather the hemp and process it by hand into yarn, before weaving it by hand into this colorful and textural wonder.

This is a handwoven twill: undyed/unbleached hemp yarn with naturally dyed cotton

All of our textiles are sourced ourselves. We love this minimally processed coarse hemp and the imperfections that come from hand weaving and botanical dyes.
