This quintessential Filipino fabric is made from fibers harvested from the pineapple plant and blended with pure raw silk. This particular Piña is unbleached, hand-dyed with Filipino annatto seeds, and woven by hand on a Spanish style loom. The silk gives the stiffer pineapple fiber a softer hand and drape, it is ideal for embroidery as you can see in many historical examples.
