Japanese natural indigo hand dyed Cotton Sashiko Thread 4 skeins from Aizenkobo Kyoto

$64.00
sold out

This very special and limited Japanese cotton is from a small dye studio in Kyoto called Aizenkobo, run by a husband and wife team (see them at their store in the pics!). They dye all their thread, by hand, themselves- among other handmade textiles in old indigo vats located at the back of their store.

This thread is best used for embroidery and hand-sewing projects, they are perfect for working with handmade cottons. They may be used for sashiko but are thinner than most standard sashiko threads, I recommend doubling it for standard sashiko use.

Hand dyed with the indigo plant, a traditional Japanese technique that creates rich, internationally revered blue hues.

This listing includes all 4 skeins shown

I do my best to accurately represent colors, but there will be differences between your monitor and mine, and also variations due to the natural dyes and hand dying process. Thank you for understanding.

  • 150 Meters/skein

  • 3 Ply

  • 100% Hand Dyed Cotton

  • Made in Kyoto, Japan
