Edwardian Girdelin Boned Belting Tape
Antique early 20th Century Boned Belting Tape from the brand ‘Girdelin’, it is an off-white color and both sides are almost identical- though one side has the heavy labels throughout. There is edging trim on the top and bottom edges and of course over the boning.
The boning itself is a mixture; some rolls have boning made from the quills of feathers and others have ‘compobone’ a mixture of paper and horsehair. The fabric is a starched cotton known as buckram.
This product was used for making girdles and also would have been used for reinforcement on garments that were typically worn with a corset. It is in unused condition and ready for your project.
This is antique and may feature small marks, or inconsistencies.
