Antique French Espadrille Canvas - Rainbow

This canvas was woven specifically for making espadrilles, a classic summer shoe! The espadrille initially began as a piece of peasant footwear, worn by both men and women in farming communities in the Pyrenees mountains of Spain. However, they have also traditionally been worn by priests, miners and infantry. Then famously by the likes of Salvadore Dali, Rita Hayworth and Jane Birkin.

These antique textiles are 20th Century and made in France. They are a dense canvas woven from cotton, the surface is smooth and fairly rigid. They are in unused condition and ready for your project.
